Center for Ageing Better (UK NHS), Lincolnshire County Council

The Brief

The UK population is ageing. Millions of people live in poor quality homes. Change is necessary to ensure older people can live independently in safe, accessible homes for longer.

The Centre for Ageing Better, partnering with Lincolnshire County and District Councils, want to co-design a series of interventions in Lincolnshire. They invited us to help them first understand how residents, aged 50 to 70, can be better supported to improve their homes so they can live in them longer.

Process

In a 6-week discovery, we conducted desk research, ran remote qualitative research with residents with lived experience, and facilitated a remote workshop of 20+ people including Lincolnshire stakeholders and Centre for Ageing Better representatives.

We translated insights into three maps: a user journey map, service map, and system map that highlight user needs and gaps in the system.

In addition to delivering maps and recommendations for 10 opportunity areas, we worked with the CFAB team through a collaborative virtual working environment that upskilled the team.

Outcome

The project is now serving as a design proof project in the organization.
